Chellaram Diabetes Institute

Chellaram Diabetes Institute (CDI), a unit of Chellaram Foundation, is a “Not-For-Profit” organization in India founded by Mr Lal L. Chellaram with the main objective of creating an IMPACT on the rising cases of Diabetes Scenario in India. This objective is sought to be achieved through five main pillars - Patient Care, Education, Outreach, Awareness and Research.

The four pillars of Chellaram Diabetes Institute are:

  • Rural Outreach Program: A mobile clinic-based rural outreach program providing advanced diagnostics and basic awareness of Diabetes to the underprivileged rural population of Pune/Ahmednagar, covering 900+ villages and 130,000+ subjects.(https://www.cdi.org.in/outreach/)
  • Research and publications: CDI has to its credit several research publications in peer-reviewed journals, as well as presentations in various national and international conferences. The research division carries out epidemiological studies, basic research and clinical trials to understand the pathophysiology of the disease and its therapeutic targets.
